IIT Hyderabad has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to establish a 'Transportation Research and Innovation Hub (TRI HUB),' a Centre of Excellence at IIT Hyderabad. The MoU aims to work on contemporary and cutting-edge technologies for National Highways in India. The initiative is one of NHAI's pioneering initiatives to support state-of-the-art research in transportation through a Centre of Excellence. The new HUB will complement the recently inaugurated test bed for the 'Technology Innovation Hub for Autonomous Navigation and Data Acquisition Systems (TiHAN)' at the Institute, demonstrating innovative technologies in pavements and bridge infrastructure. Prof Sireesh Saride, Professor of Civil Engineering and Chair of TRI HUB, emphasized the importance of achieving project deliverables in time and demonstrating new technologies and methodologies for building smart and sustainable National Highways.
IIT Hyderabad Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IITH) is one of the eight new IITs established by the Government of India in 2008. In a short span of 14 years, the institute has become a top ranker.
